will and testament
SweetLuv asked:

Also, where does it say that? I’m asking because I’m trying to figure out why Jews believe that God did not send a Saviour to deliver people of their sin so that ANYONE who believes in Him will have an opportunity to enter Heaven? Why do they believe that only Jews will be allowed in?

new. old was written by the jews and christians stole it (surprise, surprise). jews don’t believe in Jebus so it was put in in the new testament after their “borrowed ladder”

  • Robin W:

The Messiah wasn’t supposed to be a son of God, or an aspect of God, or a sacrifice for sins. Roman converts applied Roman concepts to the new religion. Look up the mystery religions of Rome, that’s where the dying/resurrected God came from.

Don’t forget that the Jews as a nation will not believe Jesus is the Messiah. It is prophesied. God made it happen that way, He planned that they should learn about Jesus being the One God later. He told them in the Old Testament and we are told in the New Testament. You can read about this especially in Romans 9.

30What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. 32Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the “stumbling stone.” 33As it is written:
“See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

The Hebrews were told about there being a Son:
    Isaiah 9
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
    And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, [b] Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

And God told them when they would believe:
    Zechariah 12
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit [a] of grace and supplication. They will look on [b] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”

So none of this should be a surprise. God has already said.

The prophet Isaiah has prophesied about Jesus and how He will die for our sins and rise again. It is given in the Old Testament(Isaiah 53, Isaiah 9:6,7) and God already mentioned about sending His Son to save His people in the Garden of eden.

It is not that only Jews will be allowed in for Jesus said that Jews and Gentiles are one in His eyes.

  • JRB:

It is in the last quarter in each of the Gospel accounts, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In Matt. Ch 24 and beginning in vs3, the apostles ask Jesus ” What will the sign of your presents and of the conclusion of the system?” So Jesus was not coming back to the earth in a physical form, but rather to let us know when “the end of days” will be by a collection of “signs” indicating that he is making known his presence as Revelation 12:1-12 brings out.

For centuries there has been a belief amongst those in the old Mosaic covenant that Messiah would come from heaven. Perhaps not all believe this, but various teachers have taught this. It is based on what is in the Hebrew scriptures. One such passage (apart from the others in Isaiah, already mentioned) is chapter 59 verses 15-21:

“The Lord [Yahweh] looked and was displeased that there was no justice. He saw that there was no-one. He was appalled that there was no-one to intervene, so his own arm worked salvation for him… For he will come like a pent-up flood that the breath of the Lord drives along. The Redeemer will come to Zion, to thos in Jacob who repent of their sins, declares the Lord. As for me, this is my covenant with them, says the Lord. My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of their descendants from this time on and for ever, says the Lord.”

Then, the very last verses of the Hebrew scriptures say, “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes.” As Elijah came before Elisha, so this prophetic Elijah would be sent to prepare God’s people for the Lord’s coming. Jesus said that one was John the Baptist, preparing the way for him (Lk 1:17 Mat 11:13-14; 17:12-13; Mk 9:11-13).

The Messiah, however, is not directly called God’s Son in the Hebrew scriptures. In the Greek scriptures the title is introduced, for example, in Luke’s gospel, chapter 3 verse 22, when God spoke from heaven to identify Jesus as his beloved Son, and occurs many times. It is unlikely that Jews believe only Jews will enter Heaven; they don’t have a clear-cut doctrine of going to Heaven. Also, they know that God promised Abraham that through him, ALL nations of the earth would be blessed.

It is in Genesis I believe, 3:15. “…He(Jesus) will crush your(Satan) head, and you(Satan) will strike His(Jesus) heel.” (referring to the cross).
I want to point out as we (me included) seek answers, some Jewish people do/did believe in Jesus. Paul was Jewish.

Isa 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Isa 6:9 And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on listening, but do not perceive; Keep on looking, but do not understand.’

Mat 13:13 “Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
    Mat 13:14 “And in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, ‘YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; AND YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE;

Prov 30:4 Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name? Surely you know!
