Mine is;
1Cor.14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

“But, is it true you have never published a biography of Pastor Russell? … That’s right. Jehovah’s Witnesses admire the qualities he possessed as a man, but were we to give the honor and credit to Pastor Russell, we would be saying that the works and success were his; but Jehovah’s witnesses believe it is God’s spirit that guides and directs his people.” —Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Divine Purpose, 1959, p. 63 (Now read the following quote):
“A brief biography of Russell along with his will and testament was published in The Watch Tower of December 1, 1916, as well as in subsequent editions of the first volume of Studies in the Scriptures.” —Jehovah’s Witnesses — Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom, 1993, p. 64

book in the New Testament? Why? Do you have/Will you share your favorite NT scripture? (I would be most interested in your favorite NT scripture after the book of John.) The reason I’m asking about stuff after the 4 Gospels, is because a lot of the scriptures I’ve seen quoted here refer to one of the four Gospels and there is so much more to the NT than just Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
I really like James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth liberally and upbraideth not.”
I’m looking forward to studying the NT and will try to remember your favorite scriptures when we get there in our Sunday lessons.

It says if you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead and proclaim with your mouth he is lord that you will be saved or something along these lines.

From Jesus: 17″Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Matthew 5:17-18 So why do most Christians not follow the old laws?

God’s Name in the old testament was kept and protected by angel Gabriel, it was then revealed in the new testament by the Name of Jesus…
Exodus 23:21, “Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.”

This was inspired after reading another question. I’m looking for the distinct characteristics of Jesus Christ’s Church. To be more specific: How can I recognize if a church is “of Jesus”?
I will pick the best explanation. Length is not important as long as your answer clearly describes the original church of Jesus Christ.
Thanks
BTW I am not a bible reader and I really want to know the answer before picking a church to attend

I can’t find where it says in the Old Testament that the messiah will come twice.
And don’t tell me that I need to read the Bible. I was raised conservative Presbyterian and have read it.
I know most of the second coming is described in the Book of Revelation, but I’m having trouble finding it in the Old Testament.
Tina:
I would hope that the Old Testament would have mentioned that the messiah would come twice. Mainly because if it didn’t, then no wonder the Jews rejected Jesus because all of the prophecies weren’t fulfilled yet and no second coming would be expected.
A lot of the verses provided are either not from the OT or are very vague. My point is that when God wants us to know something of great importance, for example the Ten Commandments, He makes it blatantly clear. Why is the issue of the messiah so vague?
And since it is vague, why would He send people to hell for not believing in it? I could understand sending people to hell for breaking one of the Ten Commandments, which are spelled out and clear as day, but I cannot believe that God would send someone (like the Jews) to hell for not believing in vague predictions and prophecies.

I did ask my pastor. He told me it “was a matter of personal faith.”

“When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, “I will return to the house I left.” When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first”
I really don’t understand the main point that he really wanted to show us. And yeah…who is the ‘man’?

….. pasted away , but in his last will and testament he willed you 500 million dollars, after the call a week later a registered letter, from your late uncle arrives. After reading it you drive to where the will is being read. And after all who are in it arrive, the lawyer opens the will and reads it out loud for all in the room to hear…”.while i was here only one of you visited me, only one of you called me, only one of you treated me with respect and only one of you listened to me and did what i asked only one of you trusted me and when others were saying bad things about me behind my back , only one of you stood up for me. It was ..( and the lawyer read your name ) and said you get it all the whole 500 million while all the rest get nothing. He hands you the check and you go to tell your friends …and NONE of them believe you. Now you know how Jesus feels He has it all and wants to share it with you….but you just can’t believe…do you now understand how this makes Him feel ?
