Since the Greek gods had earthly sons but the Old Testament God did not, isn’t the New Testament really just the final nail in the coffin of the promises and bragging of the Old Testament Israelites?
The Kingdom of Israel had been wiped out over 700 years before and replaced by Arab citizens who adopted the Hebrew religion (Samaritans).
Judea was conquered by Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome, or at least passed around among them. Hellenization had split the Jewish people into those who held to the Old Testament ways and promises and those who preferred Greek culture and language, even under the Romans.
And then the story of Jesus appears, a full blown Greek styled Mystery religion figure. Could he be less Jewish? I don’t think it’s possible.
How do Christians cling to the idea that Jesus is some sort of fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, when in reality he is the triumph of Greek and Roman culture over the religion of Abraham?
Also of note, the Arabs conquered the region and adopted the Hebrew books as Samaritans, and then added their own resulting in the eventual development of Islam.
The defeat of the God of Abraham by yet another culture.
Primo, i don’t think the Old Testament contains any prophecies about a Greek Styled Messiah who would defect to Rome and herald the destruction of Judea while helping the Romans sack Europe.

Doesn’t the very existence of Hell imply that God doesn’t really win the final battle against Satan?
In the New Testament, Jesus says it’s the will of the Father that all should come to Him (be saved). But according to the Book of Revelation (and many Christians), a whole lot of people are going to wind up roasting in Hell instead of going to Heaven like Jesus said the Father wanted. Since Satan wants all those people to go to Hell, and they will, doesn’t that count as a win for him and a loss for God? After all, God doesn’t get what He said He wants, right…?

if the bible says that Jesus didn’t know the final hour and day, why do people believe he knows now?
The new testament was written after the death of Jesus. What would be the purpose of the writer writing that the son wouldn’t know the final day or hour, if he actually does know the final hour or day? That doesn’t make since at all. It’s one thing if the writer wrote that while Jesus was alive and kicking, but this was written after the death and resurrection of Christ.

A. THE FORMATION OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON (A.D. 100-220)
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03274a.htm
The idea of a complete and clear-cut canon of the New Testament existing from the beginning, that is from Apostolic times, has no foundation in history. The Canon of the New Testament, like that of the Old, is the result of a development, of a process at once stimulated by disputes with doubters, both within and without the Church, and retarded by certain obscurities and natural hesitations, and which did not reach its final term until the dogmatic definition of the Tridentine Council. (“Canon of the New Testament”)
There is a lot of confusion about the earliest existing texts of the Bible. The oldest extant manuscript of the Bible is believed to be the Codex Vaticanus, (preserved in the Vatican Library), which is slightly older than the Codex Sinaiticus (preserved in the British Library), both of which were transcribed in the fourth century.

This time 8 years ago, President Clinton got a standing ovation from the entire world when he made his final speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
Bush’s final speech was greeted with hardly any claps and world leaders saying afterward that they were excited to see him go. As a final testament to his Middle East policies, he was pelted with shoes by an Iraqi journalist who called him a “dog.”
8 years ago, President Clinton had a 65% approval rating, the highest approval rating of any outgoing president in modern history. Bush’s approval ratings average near the low 20′s.
Why is this?

How do I ensure that immediately upon my death [no matter if I die in my state of residence of another state] that my Last Will and Testament is located and honored.
All of my assetts including a large collection of Fine Art are to be donated to museums throughout the United States.
I am most concerned, however, about my cremation and final interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills, California [although I am a Florida resident].
If is there some type of a government database that my will can be registered with?
What happens if I die in New York but still am a resident of Florida and have no family or friends to notify the appropriate parties of the location of my will.
What is my best option?

The biblical Canon came about out of necessity because of the growing problem of heresies within the Church. It became necessary to decide not only what books were inspired by God but which books in the New Testament were suitable for instruction of the faithful. It is undisputable that by this time the Septuagint had been fully accepted by the Christian Church as we see by the quoting from it by Jesus, the apostles and by the early Church fathers.
In the early centuries of the Church there were many different writings circulating in the various congregations of the Church. Most of these writings never ……….

Pastor Art,
Do you just make up history when convenient or do you have a source you go to that does it for you?
Jesus and the apostles quoted from the Septuagint and that is proof enough for me. The fact that Christians have accepted the Septuagint for 2000 years is further proof. The Protestants have only been hating Christ’s Church since the sixteenth century when they removed the books they did not like, adopting the Pharisaical Canon instead of the Christian Canon of Scriptures.
