In the Old Testament, he would unmercifully kill people for ignorance, but in the New Testament he’s all about love in compassion..? Is it perhaps because he wasn’t doing a good job and the real origin of existence took control?

It seems like a lot of values from the old testament clash with the teachings of Jesus in the new testament.

I feel like the people who use Christianity to justify their hatred of homosexuals and other types of people they don’t understand will mostly refer to the old testament.

But no part of Jesus’ message was about hatred, control, punishment or guilt… So do these two testaments need to be put into separate books to avoid contradictions and confusions?
